Seed cycling is a technique of taking 4 different sets of seeds across 28 days, a typical menstruation cycle, to regulate hormones and support menstruation cycle. This technique can be used by any woman with PMS symptoms, even women going through Perimenopause or Menopause.

Practicing Seed Cycling

FROM DAY 1 TO DAY 14 (OR MID OF CYCLE)
Flax Seeds and Pumpkin seeds are 2 seeds that are recommended to be taken during this phase. Women need more estrogen during this phase. This helps in build up of endometrium (uterus lining). This is called Follicular Phase.
FROM DAY 15 TO DAY 28 (OR END OF CYCLE)
Sesame Seeds and Sunflower seeds are 2 seeds that helps during this phase. Women need more progesterone during this phase, also called as Luteal Phase. The corpus luteum begins to release progesterone. This sex hormone will help thicken the uterus lining and prepare it for implantation.

Cycles for Women with PCOS

Major complaint of PCOS women is irregular cycles
  • • For PCOS women who have tablet induced period you can use the start of period for you cycle counting. After you are done with your 28 days you can continue to track your cycle as start of new cycle even if you don’t have menses.
  • • For women who haven’t had cycles in a while, you can simply start with moon phases. New Moon to Full moon will be your first half of cycle and Full moon to New moon will be second half of the cycle.

Taking these seeds

During the first half of you cycle, take 1 table spoon of Flax Seeds and 1 table spoon of Pumpkin Seeds every day. It can be taken at any time of the day along with any meals.
During the second half of you cycle, take 1 table spoon of ground / powdered Sesame seeds and 1 table spoon of ground / powdered Sunflower seeds every day. It can be taken at any time of the day along with any meals.
MUST READ : It is important to note that many whole seeds are not well absorbed by the body. For example Whole Flax Seeds are not absorbed well by our body. Where as Ground Flax Seeds, also called as FlaxSeed Meal, are absorbed by our body. So its better to take these seeds in powdered form than as whole seeds.
If you are powdering the seeds its better to dry roast them for 5 mins in low flame, cool it and powder it. This will get better absorbed in the body.

The easiest ways to incorporate these seeds are by adding them to salads, soups, smoothies etc.,
